| Dental X-Rays?
I want to get some second opinions on work $16,000 worth of work that a local Florida dentist wants me to have. Anytime someone suggests elaborate or extensive dental work you would want to get a second opinion or even a third. I sent a letter to the dentist a few days ago ( 3 days) asking for copies of my x-rays and told them to please let me know in advance how much it would cost for those copies and I would pay it. So far I haven't heard from the office and have not received the X-rays. I need to know how long it normally takes for a dentist to give you your X-Rays ( copies ) to you. Do they have 30 days in FL. Seems like it's pretty petty for them to wait the full 30 days, unless they have something to hide.
So, any CDA's or those familiar with HiPPa rules and FL laws pertaining to Florida Dentists and this subject please respond asap. Also, if you are in the West Central area of FL, please recommend some general dentists if you can.
Hi Char,
I will send another letter, as with gas prices I really don't want to drive to the office to pick up the x-rays if I don't have to. They were digital I believe, so giving me copies shouldn't be difficult. If I had moved out of state, I would not be able to pick them up at the office anyway. I will send a registered letter requesting them again and see what happens. Even though dental work is expensive, 16K is a bit much for what I really need. 12 crowns and possibly 2 or 3 endo's. More like 12K with my Aetna access plan + insurance would sound more reasonable. But what I need is a dentist that is more conservative, offers options to treatment plans and getting my X-Rays right now is imperative.
