How to be a certified dental assistant?

How do you get the certificate and where does it come from? Do you get it in the mail? Do you take a test and get it automatically the same day? Does it come from the school you take the test? Or does it need to be signed by the president of the company and sent to you??

If you're in the US, go to www.danb.org. (Dental Assisting National Board site).

You take an exam (If I remember, you are allowed 3 hours to take it) that covers general chairside assisting, radiation health & safety, and infection control. You get the results in the mail, with your certificate.

Check with your state to see what requirements are needed to perform expanded duties... some states require a license (NY) while some do not.

Good luck to you, and study hard!
