ok I am split between these 2 careers I would be comfortable sitting at a computer all day but I hear that it is way too competitive and it is hard to find jobs in programming is this true? I don't want to go to school and get out and can't find a job on the other hand you have dental hygiene I hear it is good and stable but the program is hard but I can handle that part of it. I can't make up my mind which one to get into so please I need insight if you don't know don't answer thanx in advance

Don't go into programming, I can tell by your post that you don't have the passion for it.

Unless you eat it, breathe it, drink it and live it, you will be miserable. The business is VERY cyclical and you'll be making rediculous amounts of money followed by times when you are wondering where your next meal will come from.

But you are wrong about one thing. The field is wide open right now. IT ***WAS*** hard to get into until last year when the market opened up again, but now the industry is dying for people.

For job stability, I'd go with teeth. As long as there are people, there are going to be teeth that need cleaning.

On the other hand, if you're not passionate about sticking your fingers into other people's mouths, I would suggest taking a little more time to think about what you really want to do 8 hours a day for a significant chunk of your life.
