having diabetes, age 73, should my nurse continue to give me insulin... ...injections when my sugars are below 60? my nurse gives me the shots even though she knows the make me ill and wont consult my doctor. my blood sugars have been between 35 and 66 for the last three months or so. and every time she gives me the shot I get weak, diiy, and sick with chest pain.

Absolutely not. What company sends the nurse to give your injections? Contact them and tell them what's happening and insist they send someone else who will follow the physician's orders. Low blood sugar can kill you - don't let her keep doing this.

This is not safe for you. I hope and pray that you can find a way to contact your doctor, or at least call 911 and ask for help. I know that you can only do so much, but you really should do everything possible to get some help. I assume there must not be any family available to you. All I can do is pray you get some help for yourself. My parents are both 73 yrs. and mom is insulin dependent. I know that her insulin brings the sugar levels down when she's running high numbers. You should actually be eating something to get your levels in a safe range. I really hope you're alright.

No! She is not a doctor, she is a nurse.. demand to speak with your doctor - that is ridiculous to give you more insulin when you're already hypoglycemic. You recieve insuline injections when you're hyPERglycemic. Consult a doctor, and deny treatment from the nurse.

A good nurse should be keeping track of the low blood sugars and should have already contacted your doctor for adjustments in your insulin. How much insulin does she administer? If your blood sugar is 35, you are in serious trouble and should be getting juice instead of insulin, which drops it even lower. You do have the right to refuse the injection. Please insist that the nurse contacts your physician or take it upon yourself, if you can.

Report this to your doctor immediately. There needs to be an adjustment to your insulin or maybe you would do better with an oral medication like Metformin... you can refuse the shot from your nurse. It's your body. But call your doctor ASAP to tell what's happening, and hopefully get an appointment immediately. Sounds like this "nurse" doesn't know what the hell she is doing. I have diabetes too... it sounds crazy what this nurse is doing. Good luck to you on getting this resolved.
