| Question about Diabetes? I'm a 17 year old high school student, and I've been doing a little reading about diabetes lately. My father (age 50) was just diagnosed with type II, my maternal grandfather has had type II for almost 30 years and my paternal grandmother was diagnosed with type I in early childhood. I understand that diabetes has genetic links, and with 3 instances in very close relatives, is my risk for this illness high? I started my research because I've been having some health issues, like severe fatigue and an increase in my urination rate. I'm always starving, but can't seem to gain weight (I'm 5'8 and 110 lbs.) My muscles have been extremely sore even with the slightest exercise. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I'm wondering if I should ask my doctor to have me tested? Advice? Thoughts? Opinions? |
