What is the best time to deliver in gestational diabetes controlled by insulin.?

My 2 hour blood sugars are under 120 around 99% of the time. (I found the one hours above 140 few times). My A1Cs were 5.3 ,5.4 etc

Fastings are usually around 90. As per the last ultrasound done in 32nd week, baby is in 30th per for weight. All NSTs look normal.

My doctor said she may deliver by 37 weeks after an amnio. Personally I prefer to stay until 39th week.
For those of you in a similar situation, did you get to stay a little longer? Did you had to go through Amnio?

I've got GD controlled by insulin, I have no idea what your going on about in the first paragraph. I think we do things differently in Australia.
But I'm 38 weeks and will be induced if I make it to 40weeks as they don't want the baby in any longer than that. Apparently there is a higher risk of stillbirth in mothers that have diabetes, this hasn't been studied comprehensively with GD but the Dr's just wont risk it. Also if my sugar levels go to high then they will induce me sooner. My Dr's have not mentioned anything about needing an amnio. I don't know why you'd need an amnio because of GD.

If I were you I'd talk to your Dr about why she feels the need to induce at 37weeks and the need for an amnio. And make sure she explains ALL of it so that you completely understand everything. It may make perfect sense after she explains it all.

Good Luck with it all :-)

Why do they want to do this? I have diet controlled GD and have NSTs 2x a week. My doctor has made no mention of amnio nor induction. When I question about baby's size, he says that he's right on schedule. Is there something in particular that's concerning them about the baby? I'm wondering why they'd even want to bother with an amnio at this point.
