| Hi, the symptoms of diabetes are as follows: frequent passing of urine, tiredness, excessive thrist, sores and cuts that dont heal quickly. It is very easy to control through medication or even just by changing your eating habits that are based on a low G.I. diet that contains slow release sugars in them that with help control your blood sugar levels, which will help with some of your symptoms. Always go and seek medical advice as diabetes can be dangerous if not monitored properly. Even if you dont have diabetes a low G.I. diet is advisable to try and avoid developing type 2 diabetes and also to control your weight. Hope this helps. Good luck and take care. |

| 10 points eh???.....interesting!!! Newayz, diabetes affects numerous organ systems, especially the ones that are not insulin dependent. They are, The kidneys, the arteries and nerves. Now, basically hyreglycemia (increased blood glucose), hampers the organ sysyems in a period of time. For starters, in arteries, it can cause vascular coagulation, where a thrombus may be formed and blood flow is affected leading to the death of the tissue it supplies like retinopathy(affliction of corneal blood vessels leading to blindness) Myocardial infarction (heart attack). In kidneys, causing increased proteinuria leading to edema in the face, etc. In the nerves, it may cause local paresis, like loss of sensitivity and motor functions.(diabetic neuropathy) Annnd finally can cause microvascular coagulation causing thrombi in the feet leading to necrosis (tissue death)and sepsis(subsequent infection) of usually the feet. Risk factors and causes include, Obesity (type II diabetes which is non insulin dependent) Autoinmmune diseases(type I insulin dependent) Pancreatitis Genetic inheritence Viral diseases like coxsackie. |
