Cat might get diabetes?

The vet called a called and said that might get diabetes if we don't take better care of his diet. I'm cutting back on feeding him but what else can I do since he's 14 and unlike a dog I can't make him exercise or be more active. How can I help to keep him more healthy because he got so fat and might get diabetes?

buy light food and cut back. 1/4 cup morning and 1/2 of that at night.

I exercise my cats with a laser light. They spend hours chasing the dot. This is a great way to get your cat to run around the house.

Try cutting back on the treats. They are not the greatest for your kitty. Give your kitty plenty of dry food and only portions of wet food. This will help your kitty out a lot.

Small amounts of cat nip every once in a while will help. Maybe three times a week, but a teaspoon at a time. This helps the digestive system.

Give your kitty plenty of sunlight. I open the blinds in the bedroom during the day and my cats sleep in there. I hope this helps. Calling your vet is a good idea to see if they have any advise. I hope this helps.

You should have asked your vet that question. Can you call them back and ask?

Read my profile. feed canned foods no gravy. From what I have seen, dry food is the number 1 reason cats get diabetes in the first place. You need to feed quality canned with little to no grains as possible. Wellness would be a good choice
