I just found out that my dad might have diabetes, any information?

I just found out that my dad is in high risk of having diabetes. I don't know much about diabetes so I was wondering if somebody can tell me some information about it. I'm really worried about him and I don't know what to do. Any ideas on how I can cope? I haven't told any of my friends since I don't want to make such a big deal of something that can might not even happen to him, but I don't know.

In diabetes, insulin is not being created by the pancreas in the proper amounts. If he is having problems with too high, he may need a diet, excersise, medication or even insulin to help control it. If he is having problems with it too low, they may glucose tablets and pills to help bring it up. If it is severe enough, he may need to inject himself constantly with insulin or be on a pump (small like a cellphone) that hooks into his skin and pumps isulin based off a rate that the doctor helps him program it for. Make sure he is eating healthy and watching his weight, and how much sugar he is consuming. He will need a glucometer to test his blood to see his sugar level regularly.
