how did you know you had diabetes?

my grandma on my dads side died from diabetes and my grandma on my moms side also has diabetes. i know that i am probably at a high risk but i just want to know what you felt like. : )

I started getting headaches every day. My mouth was really dry all the time so I was drinking a lot of water and soda and I had to pee a lot. I still didn't know I had diabetes, though until my doctor did a blood test.
