i am 30 wks preg and i just had the gestational diabetes testing last week. the thing is that...? i didn't even know they were going to do that testing on that day so right before i went, i happened to have scarfed down a bunch of jellie bellies! (it was my birthday and my cousin bought me can full of them) anyway, the next day, the doctor's office called and said "your glucose levels were a bit high so we need you to come in for the 3-hour testing." i didn't have gd with my first pregnancy so i'm thinking my glucose levels came back high cuz of all the candy. am i right? what do you think? (of course, i'm still going in for the testing this week anyway)

This testing isn't really affected by normal eating habits. Unless you ate an obscene amount of jelly bellies. I had my glucose test when I was pregnant with my first and even though I didn't eat anything a few hours before the test, it still came back slightly elevated. I had to do the 3 hour test too and that came out OK - no gestational diabetes. When I was pregnant with my twins, I asked my doctor if I was supposed to stay off sweet stuff before the test and he said no. And thank goodness that that time I didn't need to do the 3 hour test.

Thats funny that you didnt even know you were gonna be tested, cuz everytime ive been pregnant and had that test done, i had to fast, and the only thing i could drink the day of the test was some gross sugar drink the doctor gave me.. I had to drink it like 2 hours or so before i went to my appointment. Ask you doctor, cuz this dont sound right, he should of told you NOT to eat the day of your testing.
