I had diabetes with my second child. I controlled it with diet, I did not have to go on insulin. You have to be very careful and very diligent or your Internist will put you on insulin. My son weiged on 6 pounds at birth, usually diabetes babies are big. I only gained 15 pounds with him, so if you're careful you'll be ok. Diabetes usually disappears after the birth, but my doctor told me that I should watch myself because my chances of getting it increases within a 10 year period. Don't be scared, just eat healthy and do everything your nutritionist tells you. Excercise is good too. You will also have to measure your blood sugar 4 times a day and the ketonesin your morning pee. They'll explain everything. It seems overwhelming, but you get used to it. Good Luck!!!
