I went to do the glucose test today for gestational diabetes. My midwife had

yeah when I had to go in and have it done I couldn't have any food or drink in my system for 12 hours I think it was. Then they give you a soda type stuff to drink and you have to drink it all in one or two minutes then you sit there for 3 hours and get a vial of blood pulled every hour, it's to make sure your body is processing the sugar properly. You shouldn't have ANYTHING before you go.

you cant eat or drink ANYTHING for about an hour or two before your test! they draw your blood and then they will give u the stuff to drink for the test, you wait about an hour i think and then the draw your blood again. try and see if they can reschedule... talk to your doctor

said i could do it with grape jce When I got there, the nurses wouldn't do it. Should I be worried? I'm 28 weeks along and I can't do anything else now...

Why would they not do it? They could of gave you some soda. Just reschedule and ask what exactly you have to do.

You'll have to rescedule because you have to drink what they give you.. they give you there own mixture and from what I hear it taste like crap... I didn't have to take it because I'm already diabetic but I know every pregnant women has to do it... Sorry but your midwife didn't know what she was telling you if you could do it at home then you wouldn't have to go to the clinic and have it done she should have known that... Oh well you'll just have to go in again and ask them specifically what they want you to do...
