Could this too be a complication of diabetes?

My auntie is very sick. She has type 2 diabetes that went undiagnosed for quite some time. It wasn't until she got a cracked callous on her foot last June that we found out she has the disease. Her foot never healed and the infection traveled to the bone and up her leg. Eventually she had to have her left leg cut off just one week before Christmas. Last week we realized that the leg became infected and she had to have about an inch more cut off. She has also had severe diarrhea since her first operation. The doctors have done numerous tests of her major internal organs- stomach, intestines, gall bladder, liver, pancreas, and kidneys, but they have all showed to be fine. They do not know what is causing her to have this chronic diarrhea. She has also lost a tremendous amount of weight and is now down to just 90 pounds and loses a half pound of weight a day! Could this just be another complication of advanced diabetes? I am SO scared she might die!
