Diabetes question?

I can't stop going to the bathroom and my mouth feels dry constantly despite drinking water. I'm feeling pretty dehydrated and am afraid I might have diabetes. Type 2 runs in my family, but people have been usually at least in their 40s when they are diagnosed. I have an appointment early tomorrow morning with a doctor, but I am wondering if I should go to the ER before then. This has been the fourth day of non-stop bathroom trips... Something else that makes me think it might be diabetes is that I've had 3 skin infections in the past 8 mo (very unusual for me), and I've read this could be a sign of diabetes, too. Could the ER do anything for me, or should I just keep drinking water and wait till my appointment?

Since you have an appointment for tomorrow it is a waste of your $$$ to go to the ER.

I am thinking you should have gone to doctor for blood workup previous, like when you had the first infection?

Diabetes is no respecter of age. Just because you are younger doesn't mean anything. The ADA and the Endocrinologist association have lowered the standards for diagnosis in recent years. This puts more of us under the gun for diagnosis.

Be going to the doctor fasting so he can order blood draw?

Not good to panic right now! Just keep the doctor appointment and don't be surprised at anything. Family history in diabetes gives you a 20% better chance for this diagnosis.

So sorry!, we don't want you in our exclusive club, but will reluctantly accept you if necessary.
