Can a person fake diabetes?

I know it is not safe, and the person that would do such a thing has issues, but I am concerned about a person who I believe is doing this and am wondering if it is possible to fake diabetes by giving themselves a shot of something, or by taking something. Something that makes their blood sugar go over 500.
Its hard to believe, but getting beyond whether or not someone should, I am asking can they?

I have seen the test strip. She goes through all the signs and after this episode, she takes insulin. This person has faked cancer in the past and has done some pretty extreme things to get attention, and I am not putting faking diabetes beyond her. Is there some medication she can take or inject that would drive her blood sugar up that high...even if its for a short period of time?

it would be a major accusation....I doubt anyone would do that to themselves...

Insulin would cause a persons sugar to go down....this could lead to coma if the wrong dose is given....
In a normal person, eating just plain white sugar, and lots of it would not cause a persons blood sugar to go that high....


Are you sure thier sugar is going that high? Did you see a test strip - or are they just telling you? If you see it, I would suspect its the real deal

Edit: not that I know of....I couldn't think of someway to "fake" one....

I doubt it. Your friend may actually have the disease. Did you ever consider that??

I think it would be really hard to actually fake diabetes for more than an hour.

diabetes is cause by high uric acide in the blood...maybe u can try drink or eated something like 'acid'.

Did you see her clean and prick her finger for a blood sample? Did you see her use the test strip? Yes? Then she IS diabetic. No one can fake blood glucose that high. Lotions on a person's skin CAN elevate blood glucose, but not to 500. When I was in the 500s I was very sick. I understand why you suspect this person isn't being honest, but I think you need to leave this one alone. If she has needles and insulin, a tester, etc... she had to have a reason to get them.
