Someone who has certain types of diabetes can sometimes go for a while without taking insulin, but doing that they have to be very careful. A person that takes really good care and eats well can. Overall diabetes is not something that goes away. A person that is diagnosed with diabetes is not something they get use to overnight. It really takes a while to actually get use to the fact that the person has to stick their self and take insulin.

Some ways you can prevent it would be to eat well balanced meals from each food group, try not to eat so many sweet things. You can get sugar from fruits.

There is no cure for any form of diabetes. Depending on the type of diabetes you have it can effect your lifespan but advances are being made to improve the quality of life for all those with diabetes, juvenile and otherwise.

I would suggest getting a test if you suspect you may have it.

Once one diagnosed with diabetes it cannot be cured. It can be controlled and even reversed.

Diabetes is generally pretty slow to progress. A lot depends on your diet and lifestyle. I was diagnosed last year after the symptoms presented for my doctor to pronounce me, "pre-diabetic".

If it's a concern, just learn all you can about preventing it by visiting my free website
http://www.reddiabetes.com

I no longer take medication for diabetes.

There are a lot of us who either refuse to accept that we have to change our lifestyle (denial), or simply don't care about ourselves enough to change (apathy).

I would hope that either attitude is temporary, but it might take a major malfunction, like an amputation, for her to get her head straight. I spent a year in denial and what brought me out was the realization that I might miss seeing my kids grow up.

Start eating healthy low carbo, lowglycemic index high fiber diet, and the most import which helped me a lot is the walk I walk about an hour , 2 hours before the bed time. This will help you in preventing the disese.

No. Once you have been positively, for real, diagnosed with real diabetes, you are stuck with it. At this time, there is no cure, only
treatment. If you watch your diet, weight, exercise, take whatever
measures are prescribed (medication, insulin) you can live a normal
life with minimal complications. If you have it for real, and do not
follow the prescribed regimen, you can go blind, ruin your kidneys,
end up on dialysis, go into a coma and die from high blood sugar,
or go into convulsions and die from low blood sugar. Low blood
sugar can kill you , if you bottom out, and go into seizures and
no one is around. If you have high blood sugar,
you usually have symptoms as it goes up. You can go into a coma,
but it gets pretty high, usually before you do that, and you have
symptoms. You can get neuropathy in your feet, lose your toes,
fingers. It is a really bad disease. You need to be careful, especially
if there are other diabetics in the family. It tends to run in families.
get your physicals. Eating junk is not going to cause it, but it is not
going to help it at all. Diabetes is caused when the Isles of Langerhan
(spelling right?) in the pancreas do not produce enough insulin to
regulate your body's metabolism of carbohydrates, etc. It is a
malfunction of your body, a bad diet exacerbates it, but does not cause it.

There have been a lot of people that with a whole lot of hard work and exercise, and watching their diets, have actually been taken off of their medications. They are controlling their disease solely by diet. But if they are careless, they end up back on meds. These were all type 2 diabetics.
