I am 32 wks pregnant, and has gestational diabetes.?

I am worried what r my chances of being diabetic after the baby is born. May be in my early 40's, and what r the chances of getting it during 2nd pregnancy.

if you have gestational diabetes, it has no impact on whether you yourself will get it. diabetes is hereditary, so you only have a chance on getting it if it runs in your family history. some women get gestational diabetes and never have to deal with diabetes in their lifetime.
you probably have a greater chance of getting it in your second pregnancy just because you're prone to it.

They say once you have it in one pregnancy you will get it in the next. With my first born i didnt have it but with this one i do. My pre preg weight was an unhealthy weight and that could be the cause they say to reduce the risk is by eating healthier food before conception and be at a healthy weight but since you are older that could be the reason why i know it said over 35 i think there is a greater chance of getting it as i am only 22

There is always a chance when you are pregnant of getting this no matter how many Births,My Sister in law did not have it with her 1st child but with her 2nd one and they told her there is a chance as she gets older than she will get it it.

I had it with my 2nd pregnancy and now I have it with my 3rd baby. I did not have any symptoms between. However, my current doctor has said that I do have a greater chance of developing diabetes later(more than the average person). My other doctor said that if you don't develop it within 5 years after having gestational diabetes that you may not ever have it.
So, I guess it depends on the doctor. I am 39 and 38 weeks pregnant.
