Diabetes in younger people?

I seem to have most of the symptoms of diabtes but I'm only 18, is it common for people my age to get it? And if I did get diagnosed with it, how would it affect my life? Its not something I know too much about.

I am going to see a doctor as soon as I can, but the surgerys closed till Monday and only then can I even get an appointment and I'm starting to get really anxious.
