Gestational diabetes???

I am just wondering about that test, when do you get tested for it I'm 16 weeks pregnant and at the last appt my dr asked me a bunch of questions of ya know if any diseases or abnormalities run in either of our familys and well to be honest diabetes like majorly runs in both of our families and well I am really scared I might end up with it, i am scared of needles I would die if I had to give myself a shot everyday, would my dr. know by any of those other blood tests I have gotten if I have it or not or do I have to wait to have the gestational diabetes test done. when will I get that test???

I had it twice but it was controlled by diet only. I did however had to test my blood sugar a few times a day with a prick to my finger..it was no big deal at all though and I'm the biggest baby when it comes to needles.

Just because diabetes runs in the fmily does mean you will get it though.

well i took the test at 11 weeks, it was early because with family history im most likely to get it...havent got results untill next appt..so im pretty sure you will be able to get the test done whenever your dr feels like you should have it...well i wish a happy and healthy pregnancy for you!

baby #4 due in june has a spectacular aura about
they usually test around 24-26 weeks but it can be done a little earlier if theres a reason. i had it in my last 2 pregnancies and have it in this one also. mine is controlled with diet at first but eventually i have to take insulin injections daily, no big deal as long as hubby does them for me, i cannot do them on myself, it freaks me out. alot of times it can be controlled with diet alone so just follow dr orders when it comes time

I had to do the glucose test at 25 weeks. Diabetes runs on both sides of my family and I'm overweight and although I didn't have gestational diabetes with my 1st, I thought I might get it this time because I'm a little older now (almost 30). I barely passed my test but I'm doing great. Every time I give my doctor a urine sample I believe they are checking for diabetes and protein in the urine and so far so good. I'm 35 weeks pregnant now. I do eat a bit healthier than I did before I was pregnant and try to not overdo it on the sweets. By the way, when I did my glucose test (the one-hour test) my doctor had be fast beforehand and the tech said sometimes your last meal can affect the results so for your last meal before you take your glucose test, make sure it's healthy (avoid, sugars, starches, flours, etc.) and that might help your chances. Good luck!
