I recently found out I have diabetes?

I'm 23 and I recently found out I have daibetes, Is there any other way to get insulin into the body without injections? I'm terrified of needles and I have to have my girlfriend inject it because If I see a needle in my arm I freak out.
Is there any other way to get insulin into the body?

There is the pump, but I like the shots cause they are in and out, whereas with the pump, it is in you all of the time. Don't worry, you will get used to it.

Please beware of anyone telling you you can survive without insulin. You cannot. Some Type 2's can control their BG's with diet and exercise because they still make enough insulin, but most need oral meds. Type 1's like you and me have to inject insulin by syringe or pump. Have you looked into insulin pumps? Instead of several shots a day, you give yourself one big one every 3 days to inject a tiny tube, and then you don't have to deal with needles, you just program the amount of insulin in and it delivers it through the tube. I've been on one for 5 years and it's a godsend! I would never give it up!

Until then, have you tried practicing giving shots on an orange? It's an old trick they used with me, and it helped. I'm extremely needle-phobic too, but I managed to get used to the little insulin needles, and I psyched myself out to think of it as something other than a needle. I still pass out when I get other shots like inoculations! Funny...

A couple of years ago they launched an inhalable form of insulin, but the dosages were so inconsistent, and it caused lung problems for so many people, plus it just wasn't very popular, so my understanding is they've pulled that off the market. Go for the pump!

Do you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes? There is the insulin pump like some have suggested but that not be a good option for you because you would have to have a needle in you and attached to a tube ALL the time and change it every 3 days.

I have type 1 and lowered my daily Lantus insulin dosage by 10 points just by exercising every day. With type 2 you might have the option of completely controling it with exercise and no shots. Talk to your Diabetes doctor about your options.

Yes, and insulin pump. But the insulin injections are as bad as other injections. You can't feel it

The best way is to control your diabetes is through proper diet and exercise.You have to visist your doctor for the consultation Read this book Eat To Live ,

If you want to live longer, reduce your need for medications, lose weight faster than you ever thought possible, and dramatically improve your health, Eat to Live is the answer. Dr. Joel Fuhrman defines the scientific formula to improve health:

Health = Nutrients / Calories

The more nutrient dense food you consume, the faster your health will improve. Fat will melt away, the need for medication will lessen, and you'll reverse the disease process!
