32 weeks pregnant. Worried about size/diabetes...?

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and a little bit worried. I had the gestational diabetes test a few weeks ago and the results came back high... So they made me come in for the 3 hour test where they could check my blood sugar level more often. I still haven't gotten the results back on that yet. What makes me worry even more is that my dr says he thinks I'm looking small for 32 weeks. My stomach really isn't that big at all, I only look a few months pregnant actually... The baby seems to be moving a lot so I'm sure that is a good sign. I just want to make sure he's okay!! What could the baby being small mean? Maybe it's stress.

Typically with gestational diabetes the baby turns out big not small. I'm not sure what would make the baby smaller other than things like not eating right, exercising, and smoking, etc. If you have been doing everything you should through the pregnancy there may be some other medical cause or maybe your baby is just little. Do people in your family have small, average, or large babies?

Do not panic. Just because you look small doesn't mean that the baby is small. I didn't get very big with my son and he weighed 9 pounds. With gestational diabetes, normally you will gain a good amount of weight and the baby can get large. Have you asked what they estimate the baby's size to be? That is a good question for your next ultrasound. But the baby is moving around alot and there have been no problems or you would already have known. Maybe he was just referring to the fact that you aren't "pooched out" as big as most people as far along as you. I really wouldn't worry about it. Like I said, if the test comes back high again, they will watch you close so you do not have a really large baby, not a small one.
