okay, so i have diabetes...?

I just found out, and my parents are looking in to getting me the OmniPod. But I went on the website and by looking at the pictures, it looks like no matter where I wear it It'll be really noticeable. I don't want to use syringes, but anyone who actually wears a pump, is it really that noticeable?

I have talked to a few people about it and they said it's no smaller than a regular pump and it IS visible with most clothing. It also has the risk of the site (where it goes into your skin) being compromised because of its weight. I would start out with a traditional pump like the Medtronic Minimed. They have been around a long time and are reputable.

What country are you in?Hello...I have had diabetes for 14 years. Type 2. What type are you? I know some one that has a pump, and it doesnt show. I am on medication and started insulin last summer. I take 2 shots a day. One in the am and one at supper time. I take 26 units at night and 32 at night. The insulin i use is called 30...70....30 % fast acting and 70 % slow acting. It controls my sugar very well. You start low dose and work up as necessary. The needles used now are very thin and you dont even feel it!! This method is much cheaper than the pump too. I never wanted to use them before but i dont mind it at all now!! I am 72 now. If you look after it you can live a normal life and do anything! Do as the doctor tells you and you will be great! If you have any more questions submit a question and mention BIFF. I check this site regularily and will answer you!. Good luck..keep in touch . Good luck . Take care!!What country are you in?

i am 12 and have been diabetic for 9 years. i have the minimed right now. i am absolutely in love with it. i had the cozmo but i seriously hated that thing!!!! i tried the omnipod, and it IS WAY TO NOTICIBLE!!! i hated it. you have to wear a HUGE jacket all year round just to cover it up... and forget wearing a bathing suit!! (or tanktop). please consider getting a minimed. they work fantastic, and i also have the sensor that checks your blood for you. it doesn't hurt at all. it looks like a flat mushroom-shaped thing. no-one notices it and it works fabulously!! hope this helps!!

There is an insulin inhaler (I use it), its pretty big and noisy (so, noticible) but I was told in a couple of years they would find a way to make it smaller, just like the mobile phone and how it started HUGE and now is a size of a pen lol.
If you are interested in this inhaler its called EXUBERA.

I wear a pump. I'm a 15 year old girl. It's REALLY not noticible. i wear my jeans tight, but it either goes unnoticed or looks like a cell phone. i highly reccomend going on the insulin pump. it makes everything SO much easier. you don't have to worry about giving yourself 3 shots a day, you can eat more or less, you don't need to eat snacks, and it just controls the blood sugar much better. email me if you want a.loughran93@yahoo.com
