How can I throw off a diabetes blood test to show as negative for diabetes? Okay, so I had a recent physical for a job, and they said I had 200 mg of sugar in my urine test, which is a possible sign of diabetes. If I *do* have diabetes, I will not get the job. Anyhow, they are sending me in for blood work on Monday. Is there anything I can do to sway the odds of this test toward a negative reading? So far, I've thought of taking aspirin and drinking lots of water... anything to thin the blood. Any suggestions? Keep in mind that I will start treating my body better and have a healthier diet either way, just because of the possibility of having diabetes.

This isn't a drug test, and you shouldn't try to skew it. Try to eliminate excess sugar and starches from your diet. If it is positive, go see your regular doctor for more extensive testing. Btw, your sugar can read high if you have the flu, and other reasons, so you may be able to contest the results if you have your doctor run a comprehensive blood test. Good luck.

Since they are doing full blood work, not much you can do now. The A1C looks at your blood sugar level over a three month period. No way of fooling that test. A number in the 200 doesn't mean much if you ate within an hour or two of the urine test. Like mentioned by another poster, having the flu can also raise your blood sugar.

I dont think that you can fool them on this. If they do an A1C test which tells them your prev sugar level they will find it. I dont know why they would not hire you, because diabetics can work and perform as well as people with out it!
