| Diabetes medicine? I take Metformin, also known as Gloucophage. I think it makes me gag when trying to swallow them. Anyway, I was wondering does it make anyone else poop... alot?      |

| Yeah!! that is one of the side effects that hits most people. Not the gagging, that is just a reflex to having to take pills!! You really don't want to so you gag while trying to swallow them. Try pepto for a while as you are taking the Met. and for acidy stomach try tumms or something like that. Most doctors say to take this WITH food. It lessens the bad effects. It is a systemic drug, which means it takes around 3 to 4 weeks for it to become fully effective in your system. Skipping pills won't have much effect. Not a good idea to skip any prescribed pills or other meds. It is still giving me gas something ferociously most of the time. Doctors all say that is due to something else, not the Met!! But when I didn't take it for a month, I didn't have the gas. (the insurance co screwed up and didn't deliver my meds as ordered) |
