| Is there any connection between physical fitness and labor? I realize this may be a bit of a silly question, but, what the heck, I'm curious. Of all the pregnant women I've know, the ones who are in shape tend to give birth sooner, and the ones who aren't tend to give birth later. For instance, I have a cousin who has probably never exercised a day in her life (which remained true throughout the pregnancy) and she didn't go into labor until she reached 39 weeks and 5 days. But two of my aunts exercised nearly every day, power-walking and doing pilates and water aerobics. They went into labor during their 37th and 38th weeks. So, is there any connection with this? The fitter you are, the sooner you will give birth? Or is just a coincidence? Thanks in advance! |
