Are we really judging someone's fitness to be President based on their marital

issues? If you think this is a strong basis upon which to judge someone's fitness for office... do you think your own personal life would withstand public scrutiny, if every single detail about everything you've ever done was brought into the limelight by the media? Would your marriage survive? And would you be electable?

Probably not so I wouldn't be stupid enough to attempt to run for President if I were Obama.

In all honesty.. .if your average joe knew the gory details of our past Presidents to the extent we get them drilled into us in todays system.. the would be horrified. Prostitution addicts, drunks, closet cross dressers and racists... that is how many would have described some of what history sees as our "greatest" Presidents. And it's because their personal lives did not interfere with how they ran the nation. Much like Bill Clinton, no doubt he's an amoral individual when it comes to his love life... but he did a heck of a job with the nation.. and that is what history will most likely focus on.

I did survive and I was elected. And I served honorably in the public office into which I was elected.

I don't think that is a real big problem. Hilary Clinton kind of has that problem, but not really. Her detractors are far more focused on Bill Clinton's comments now than his actions in the past with Monica.

Cindy McCain seems to be little more than arm candy. A pretty face to augment McCain when he is on camera.

And one of Barack Obama's problems is the fear that he is too close to Michelle; that her not being proud of being American (which was seriously misinterpreted) might be rubbing off on Barack. Marital woes aren't the problem.

I think the only one getting any flack for marital issues is not getting the flack for problems they have, but rather for who she is married to. Many people simply cannot stand Clinton, just as many simply cannot stand Bush. Both men are extremely divisive. If Hillary Clinton were married to another man, or if she divorced Bill she might get more support than she does.

Do I think it is a major factor? No. It can play into character though and shouldn't be totally dismissed..
