You can purchase premixed cockatiel food at Walmart, but you should also supplement their diets with fruits and vegetables. Do not give them avacodoes seeds or chocolate, it can kill them. My neighbor has 13 cockatiels and gives them just the regular premixed seed from walmart and they thrive on it. But they also are fed from the table regular human food, in small quantities of course. They can eat most any vegetable that humans eat. Also, they loooooove oatmeal, warm not hot; peanut butter; raw carrots; mashed potatoes, and bananas...just experiment with them. Just remember to give them small quantities and lots of varieties. Be careful to keep them away from a draft on an inside wall, fresh water, lots and lots of attention and a few toys and they'll be happy, healthy and thrive in a loving home.

I give my cockatiels both seed and pellets as well as millet and fruits/veggies. Some people beleive an all pellet diet is best, but my birds really enjoy the activity of cracking seeds and foraging around. I use a good cockatiel seed mix (if you are feeding pellets too... don't get the "Wal-mart" version with all of the fillers... the birds won't eat that stuff anyway) and I use the parakeet or cockatiel size ZuPreem fruit pellets. I offer the pellets freely and keep the bowl full. With the seed I give my birds about 1/3 cup of seed each per day and I sprinkle a little of the ZuPreem pellets on top (for color)
I give young cockatiels a spray of millet 3-4 times per week (a newly weaned cockatiel would get one daily) and for adult cockatiels I other a sray of millet as a treat about one a week. I give my cockatiels fruits/veggies at least every other day (one of my cockatiels eats them... the other, not so much)... but about 1/4 cup of chopped veggies daily or 4-5 times per week is a good amount. The list of veggies and fruits you can offer could go on and on.... so I will list some of the one's that my cockatiels have enjoyed:
Peas, corn, green beans, chopped spinach leaves, chopped mustard greens, apple, pear, grapes, cantelope, shredded carrot, yellow squash, zucchini, broccoli, celery, bell pepper, cooked rice, cooked barley, and cooked kidney beans. Other things I have offered that are good for them, but that they didn't really care for include papaya, mango, banana, watermelon, peaches, oranges, lima beans, and sprouts.

Don't bother with plain ice bergerg lettuce... very little nutritional value. Spinach, mustard greens, kale are much better greens for your cockatiel. Also... no apple seeds, avocado, onion, or mushrooms ... I have heard various stories about tomatoes and potatoes... so I would stay away from those as well.

Good luck to you!

5# of cockatiel mix of your choise(forty diet, fiesta, etc) 2# of raudybush pellets, 2# of zupprem cockatiel food mix it well, works with mine, they get some seed some pellet and some of the fruit thigs too, as for millet they will get it fat...so as a treat only, for fruits they probably won't eat many because they just don't, don't do lettuce though, too much water and can lead to dhiarrea, apples and carrots is about as much as they will take...
