| Police officers need judgment most of all. They need analytical skills to assess situations they face. They need to care about people and the law--nurturing instincts are good for this, and yes ladies, I think men can nurture too. They need to be able to handle stress and uncertainty. And they could realize that they set an example. All of these traits are found, to some degree, in men and women. How well developed they are depends on the individual. The more one has, and the better they're developed should help with one's success in law enforcement. Unfortunately, some of those traits are considered weakness. Of course, knowing what officers face every day, some are bound to develop defenses to keep from going crazy. |
