| how many calories do i need to lose weight?
usually i cant help myself with junk food, but for the past couple of days ive been counting calories in a little book and drinking water more than anything else. now whenever i see junk food i want it badly, but once i get it in my mouth im like i dont want this anymore. i think its because i know where its going. so on a normal day i ate about 2300 calories, but gradually ive been going down, next was 1735, and the day after that was 1400. am i doing good? or am i not getting enough? also i just got a new job where i walk around the store alot, for like 5 hours straight (with a 1 hour break in between the only time i sit down). also, ive read a question that someone answered with that it takes 3500 calories to lose 1 pound.. is that true? im 15 years old, and weigh about 170-180. (its been a while since i weighed myself) oh and i stopped drinking soda all together. how much weight do you think ill lose if i keep it up? |

First off, yes it does take 3500 calories to lose one pound, that information is correct. Second off, good for you for trying to lose weight and it looks like you're doing pretty good. Its great that your cutting down on calories but remember to eat healthily. 100 calories of broccoli is better than 100 calories of bread so remember to eat a balanced diet. Contrary to popular belief, drinking water doesnt help you lose weight so that wont help at all. 2300 calories a day is far too much for a girl your age and so it 1735, but 1400 is a bit too little. I would say about 1500-1600 would be better and about average for someone your age on a diet. Its also very good that you have a job that keeps you moving, that should help burn those calories off. Just make sure that you lose more calories than you gain and you should be good. Good luck, you'll be healthy and fit in no time if you keep this up=) |
