| What's the secret to drawing illustrations more accurately and realistically?
There is no secret..Just practice and experience, and the following:Good tools to work with, imaginationand a good eye.Drawing accurately and realistically requires a good imagination to turn whatever's on your mind, or anything 3-dimmensional you're basing your drawing on, into something 2-dimmensional.. to be drawn on paper, or on the computer or anything else.Creating something realistic also requires a good eye for DETAILS. Capture those details accurately and put them onto your drawing. Observe the little things and textures around you, and even if you were to draw something purely from your imagination, incorporate these details into your drawing. It would then look realistic. All the best with everything!

The trick is basically to draw what you see, not what you know. Often we try to draw a shape or thing as we "know" it looks, but this might not be the way the eye really sees it. The mind fills in a lot of details for the eye, but if you draw through that mind's view, it won't look like the eye's view. For example, we know that people have two arms and two legs, but often when you see a person in a certain position you can only see one arm or leg. We tend to focus on a person's eyes, so when we draw we put them on top of the face, even though they are really in the center of the face, but the mind ignores the forehead because we focus on eyes. The same goes for objects - we might know that the top of a bowl is round, but if we are just seeing it with the eye from the side, it is a narrow elipse, not a circle. So draw what your eye sees, not what you know. You can find more about this many drawing books.

It's just practice. You have to find a proper code which can deceive eye. Look at old masters, who did it in a excellent way.http://culturexy.blogspot.com

| What's the secret to drawing illustrations more accurately and realistically?
Hello, Good question!...Let's tackle accuracy first. To draw something more accurately, it's important to understand that all drawings are composed of a simple arrangement of basic shapes. I like to call this arrangement the "framework".Similar to how skeletons are "frameworks" that give our bodies their human forms, a simple arrangement of shapes is a framework that gives form to the lines that compose a drawing. Next time you look at a drawing, try to look beyond the actual image and see if you can visualize the simple arrangement of shapes from which it is formed. If you're just starting out, it's a good idea to lightly sketch out the framework of shapes first. In time though - with lots of practice... lots and lots of repetition!... you'll be able to visualize a framework for a specific image by simply imagining it! It's at this point when you can "draw from memory".Still, whether you sketch it out or visualize it in your mind, the framework is important either way as it helps to maintain symmetry and proportion. It's proportion and often both symmetry and proportion... that allow you to draw lines that more accurately depict the image you are trying to create! And with accuracy taken care of, detailing to ensure a more realistic look becomes a much easier task. So, with your framework in place, the next step is to make your drawing realistic. How realistic is completely up to you. Use lines, shading and color to achieve this goal.In summary then, the "secret" to drawing illustrations more accurately and realistically," is to first >>> create a framework to establish symmetry and proportion, and second >>> to add details according to the level of realism you wish to achieve in your drawing!...On a personal note, I love to draw cartoons. Accuracy is important, but not in the same way that it would be if I were to draw more realistic things. Because of this, I have more freedom as to how accurate I make the frameworks from which I develop my drawings. Hope this information is helpful to you.Jeff :-)http://www.how-to-draw-cartoons-online.com
