What is sequential art? It's all about comics? what's the defference?

I just found this new field at SCAD. It takes me a long time for me to choose which field I should choose for my master degree. There are not many sites about this, so I think maybe someone know it well. For the future(about job..)I'm thinking about animation.painting and drawing. illustration and sequential art.Especially, I wanna know what the difference is between illustration and sequential art. Are there some schools that offer sequential art for master degree?(or just SCAD does)...

Sequential arts is this umbrella term for studies that deal with the telling of a story with pictures. It usually suggests cinematography/video/animation. Illustration is not sequential art. Illustration is like the child of painting and marketing: you make figurative paintings for a target audience.

Sequential art is art that exists both in space and time. Illustration can be a type of sequential art but doesn't need to be. Comics are a form of sequential art but not all sequential art are comics. Sequential art can take the form of painting, instalation, performance, film, photography or whatever you dream. Will Eisner wrote a book called Comics & Sequential Art. Read it. Another good book is Understanding Comics by Scott Mccloud.
