My son is preparing for his final exam in Spanish. He has to write an original song in English and perform it in Spanish. His concern is that, as he tries to translate to Spanish, something in the meaning will be lost. I know this is a lot to ask, but 10 points to the best interpretation. If you, as a native speaker (I'm a native speaker of Spanish) could tell me how many syllables there are in each line, I could do a better job. Of course, I'd do my very best to keep the original meaning but I'd try to adapt this translation.By the way, I can tell you how many syllables there are in normal spoken English there are, but as your son knows, when singing this changes.
