| Are there any people who don't believe in evolution who extend their beliefs to...
...the geology of rivers? With evolution, we can demonstrate it in a lab to the extent that a lab can contain it, but we can't demonstrate the sort of dramatic evolution that takes place over billions of years for the obvious reason that we can't succinctly run billion-year lab experiments. Similarly, with erosion, we can demonstrate it in a lab to a certain extent, but we don't have the time or space to demonstrate the massive-scale erosion that makes major river beds and canyons. Are there any creationists out there who don't believe that riverbeds and canyons were made by water erosion (buying "micro-erosion," but not "macro-erosion")? If not, why are you willing to accept an extension of a principle to a large time scale in the case of erosion but not evolution? |

I am reasonably sure young earth creationists think that the grand canyon was created eroded or speed of depostion/erosion was very different at the beginning of the created earth, cause the current timescales of erosion doesn't allow for both the grand canyon and a young earth. Check out one of their websites to find out more details.

I am a creationist. There are different kinds of creationists however. I am a Mature Fiat believer, in that I believe God created the mature universe in 6 days. When God created man, He didn't create an embryo, fetus, or child. He created an adult male capable of thinking and understanding. The same can be said of creation. He didn't plant seeds in the ground and wait for them to grow. He created a full grown tree. When God created a river, He didn't just throw water on the ground and wait for it to dig its path out. If you were to look at Adam immediately after his creation, you could easily declare quite confidently that he was around 30 (just guessing an age) years old. But in fact he was only a mere few seconds old. If you were to cut one of the trees down the day God created them, you would most likely find rings in them that said it was around 20 years old even thought it had just been created a few minutes before. I believe this is the problem we run into when we try to decide how long ago the earth was created. This also explains which came first, the chicken or the egg. The Chicken. Also the egg could not have incubated itself. |
