| Could somebody tell me about the geology of Bryce Canyon in Utah?
Specifically the layering aspect-when, what it's made of, where I can find pictures, etc.

The rock is lithified lake sediments from an ancient (Eocene (about 35000000 years ago to 50000000 years ago)) and huge lake. The sediments are limey mudstones to muddy limestones. The canyon is spectacular due to the way this type of sediment erodes when given relief. Use Google Image search to find photos. |
