honestly, a college degree these days is simply proof that you can show up in the same place at the same time for 4 years.

as an employer, i can say that a college degree is a requirement but, a successful candidate must offer something more to make themselves stand out. life experience, work experience, , etc - it all plays in.

i personally dont care what your gpa was. i dont care if you were president of the chess club. what i do care about is that you possess demonstratable leadership qualities and are an independent thinker.

most people do not go into the field that they get their bachelors in. careers are somewhat opportunistic and the lessons you learned in your chemistry degree pursuit have applications outside of chemistry. one of the greatest SQL guru's i've ever known - perhaps the best - had a degree in comparative zoology.

I am a Post Graduate of Economics and I assure you that you would fit is all the jobs that are available in the world because by this time you would have realised that Marginal Rate of Output should be more than that of Marginal rate of Expense and if you maintain this ratio you would be sucessful whole through your life.
