Economics Question regarding our current econimic situation and the national debt...?

What would be the best way/ways to bring down our ratio of national debt to GDP? I'd like to know some specific ways to cut military spending, cut money borrowing, increase our exports, and increase GDP. How does the national debt affect our economy in a bad way? Does the depreciation of the US dollor affect this and if so how?
