| What kind of jobs can one get after majoring in economics? I'm science major, but a friend of mine overseas is thinking of coming to study in Canada and is wondering what kind of jobs can she get after majoring in economics and also is there any other majors out there she can do where she could easily get a job in Canada? |

| I have a BA with a major in economics. Excluding professional roles such as doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc. there is a wide-range in jobs that your friend could pursue. General business roles; manager, director, VP are certainly attainable. These can be in any sector of the economy. My own area of expertise is in the energy industry and there are fantastic opportunities within the oil & gas, natural gas, and the power markets. Government and government agencies are always looking for economists or people that have a business background. These industries besides needing new blood to replace an aging workforce also pay very well. |
