Us Economics, Recession & Depression?

I've heard that the US is or might be going into a recession and I can't remember the specifics of a recession and a depression: Is a recession 2 quarters of negative growth 1 or 3? And how many is a depression? I know what each one is, just not the amount of time each one takes. Thanks guys I'll chose a best!
