| I'm in a predicament...what do you think I should do--an MBA or a Masters
in Economics? I will be receiving a Bachelors degree in Math and Quantitative Economics...I would like to get my PhD, but there is a chance I will have to wait until later (I'm 28 and my wife and I want to start a family). If I decide to settle for a Masters degree in Economics for now would it be as efficient as an MBA? That is, which would best provide for a family--and give me the option of a PhD later?

Truly, it would depend on your future goals. What sort of phd would you go for math? econ? business? What kind of job do you want to get in the meantime? Econ degrees are helpful with sales, banking, and jobs more directly related to the field. MBAs are more likely to be field specific; e.g., marketing, finance, etc. the bigger problem with the mba is that it's going to be a waste of time unless your phd is going to be in the same field.
