BA of art, economics?

is it hard to find a job with this major? people are saying it's not a good idea now to major in economics, is it really so?
people are saying economics majors cannot compete with a pure business when finding a job. i just want to know how bad it really is

Yes, a simple BA economics major is not really adequate for a job today when BA and BScs are available inplenty and the emrginng sectors need graduates with more employment oriented knowledge especially with skills in computer-based quantitative techniques/ exposure to business management applications of economics.
One witha BA economics should either go in for a Phd in economics or MA in quantitative economics/ financial economics/ international global economics, or should go in for an MBA.
Days of BA are going away fast.
