| Would a collapse of US economics be bad?
I know this is an obvious question, but to any of you who know people from the Great Depression, or happened to live then, you know that those hard times caused change. People took a real close look at their finances then, they had to. We've had it good for a long time, and when times are good people go on 'auto-pilot', they don't analyze the problems with the world; there's no need to. I know a collapse of the US economy would certainly cause hard times, but sometimes I'm inclined to think we deserve it with the amount of corruption and ignorance that is prevalent in our society. For the most part our survival instincts and real critical thinking are mostly dormant, and I think only an economic collapse would provide incentive to exercise them.
Can anyone think of any other ways to better our society? 1% of the population is in prison, education is tanking, and the information economy might be a dangerous idea that collapses, all it does is analyze, it rarely produces.
The left is demanding more health care for the impoverished, higher wages, etc.... If our economy is in bad shape, this will only drag it down faster. Business is leaving for China because they don't have those labor problems.
Sorry Jehen, but sometimes punishment is necessary. Parents usually love their kids, but do they not punish them? And I'm not saying our government should let it happen but that if it does happen their can be benefit in it.
Obama or Nader: All I see in the media is doom and gloom about the economy. They got sick of picking on the Iraq war and decided to focus on that instead.
