To what extent do you think government should be involved in the free enterprise economy?

America is not a free enterprise economy, to name a specific case. We are a democratic Republic with the People granted the Constitutional prerogative* to regulate commerce and promote the general welfare by the founding fathers.

But in an ideal free enterprise economy that can only exist in theory (too many market failures make a real free enterprise economy unworkable), government would only protect property rights through the courts. Everything else could conceivably be private enterprise (including police, fire and military).
