Is Finance or Economics the least demanding major?

I am an Econ major, but I am putting a lot of time into it and not getting a good enough return. Since I like Econ, some say I should go into Finance. It's about go time and I need to choose [a major] the direction I am going in and these two majors lead me to two opposite paths. So, if you were me, would you enroll in the business school...or wait it out?
I am a non traditional student with about 12 years of work experience 4 of those in management.

Finance is pretty much a small branch of economics. Not many (at least the top research schools) schools offer finance as a major since it's a very targeted field and it's usually reserved for phD work. Enrolling into B-school will probably give you exposure to lots of other fields (Marketing, Operations, etc.). I don't quite understand when you state: "not getting a good enough return" but if you really like Economics, you should stay and finish as a major and see if there are graduate level opportunities. However, if you are ready to hit the job market after your graduation, undergraduate B-school wouldn't be a bad idea. Good Luck!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Finance and am in my final MBA class. I have had a much easier time finding a secure position with a firm than many economics majors may find. However, I know that there are many opportunities for economics majors with some finance background to be gainfully employed. If you can handle the work, I would recommend that you continue to major in Economics and consider a minor in Finance. I think you will have a better return on your resume when you graduate and look for a job.

I think you need to look at it from the perspective of what do you want to do after you get out of college. You are looking at the short term not the long term picture. Do you really want to decide your entire future on which is harder at this particular point in your life? Figure out what you hope to do with your degree, then decide which degree will help you reach that goal. Good luck.
