| Dislocation slip in single crystals? (materials engineering)? The critical resolved shear stress for copper is 0.48 MPa (70psi). Determine the maximum possible yield strength for a single crystal of Cu pulled in tension. the equation to plug in is T=O*cos(alpha)cos(beta) where O is the yield strenght, T is the shear stress which is given. So now...i don't know the cos(alpha) nor cos(beta). It does say to find the maximum so could the angles be 360 degrees max? Please help... |
