| It's obvious the human body is not engineered for space travel...? So what would the human body have to be transformed into in order to withstand the rigors of space travel? Would it look like the images of aliens portrayed by us? Big head, slender body, and frail limbs? |

| sorta. 1st generations would go through drastic changes an micro levels and system(s) adjustments . such as.... bone strength, muscles strength, immune system functions, blood pressure and lymphatic functions I'd expect 2nd or 3rd generations to have visibly noticeable changes on the surface one of the major expectations is that legs will start to de evolve (sorta) to monkey like legs....... legs that almost work like arms, or feet that work more like hands This is obvious since we won't be standing on our legs in micro gravity. "gravity is a prescription for proper human development, we just don't know how little or how much we need" personally (even though VERY drastic) I think quantum computing is coming up fast. if it is successful after a few years of improvement, we should have a "container" where we can mimic our own minds and thoughts. if this is achievable, will this mean we can "upload" our selfs into computers or, integrate computers into our own minds maybe are brains could be removed and put on new "bodies" whenever desired. if this is possible, then the best thing to do would to be to detach our computer/brain system, place it in the ship and have the ship as a life support system for only our brains, while we travel the stars..... (consciousness could be combined at that time and you might even be able to network and share the experiences your friends back on earth are experiencing. it would almost be like you never left earth.... perhaps even all crazy matrix style) when we arrive the ship might even be smart enough to reattach your brain onto a robot body (much stronger than a human and not effected by evolution or long term effects of micro gravity) but if we live in a world like that, there will be many other ethical, political issues we'll have to address before sending hundreds of thousands of cyborg brains into space for decades I do believe, along with many other universities and government groups that this WILL become a SERIOUS issue and needs to be addressed NOW instead of when its too late. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity http://www.singinst.org/ |
