Would anyone hire a 29 year old for an entry level engineering job ?

Would you hire a 29 year old who had just finished his degree into an entry level engineering position ?

A friend of mine at work dropped out of his chemistry degree and will start a mechanical engineering degree next year when he is 25 going on 26.

Do you think he will have a big problem getting a job ?
I forgot to mention without ANY engineering experience.

Obviously if you were a machinist you could get a job as an engineer.

Depends. A lot of people (me for one) get degrees later in life. I worked as a toolroom machinist for fifteen years before getting a degree. I got "Entry level" engineering jobs, and my trade experience was a definite plus.
