is Genetic Engineering safe?

should we be told if our food comes from Genetic Engineering? Couldn't this jeoparize our future.

It has potential for great evil in the hands of evil men as the Soviets proved with their engineering of super deadly viruses and bacteria. It isn't anything to worry much about as it is used by US companies and farmers. Millions of people will likely have their lives saved by rice that also produces vitamin A. Many crops are resistant to pests so need less pesticide. There are several other examples but it basically just dramatically speeds up natural evolution so it shouldn't be totally feared. Most of the panic is being spread by nations that can't compete.
