Am I really rude? (Etiquette)?

My husband was washing the car and I went out to have a look. He got very upset and accused me of being rude and insensitive watching him work.
I feel really confused and does not understand why he feels this way. I have never put him down and we have no history of fighting.
I really don't get it and now feel very hurt and misunderstood. Am I really being rude?
