What is the etiquette for requesting an interview?

I am going to request interviews for two local colleges. Is there a specific etiquette I should be following?

If your wanting to work in a specific group or for a specific person I would recomend you ring/e-mail them and ask to meet up for a chat. Maybe its done differently on the other side of the atlantic.

Nothing other than calling the admissions office and requesting an interview.
